The Young Performers Camp (YPC) is a full-day program with the perfect blend of creativity, education, and pure fun, providing an unforgettable summer for young artists.
Unleash your child's inner star as they go on a journey of self-discovery through the world of musical theatre! YPC is designed to nurture and develop their talents, whether they're a seasoned performer or stepping onto the stage for the first time. Our experienced instructors bring a wealth of knowledge from the world of professional theatre.
From vocal coaching to choreography, every aspect of our camp is crafted to enhance your child's skills and boost their confidence.

The highlight of our summer musical theatre camps is the final performance for family and friends on the last day of camp! Witness the transformation of your child as they take the stage with confidence, showcasing their new found skills.

Essential Supplies:
Remember to bring water to stay hydrated throughout the day.Pack pencils, a notebook, and highlighters.
Footwear and Attire:
Indoor running shoes or jazz shoes are the only accepted footwear in the studio.Wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement - please no large logos.
Lunch Requirements:
Campers are required to bring their own peanut-free lunch each day. -

Our camps are not just about rehearsals and performances; they're a celebration of summer! With a mix of drama games, creative activities, and themed events, we ensure that every day is filled with laughter, joy, and the excitement of putting on a musical.

TEEN SUMMER INTENSIVE

The Teen Summer Intensive (TSI) is an audition-only program that provides teens ages 14-20 the opportunity to immerse themselves in a musical through intensive group rehearsals, workshops and one-on-one training. Guided by industry professionals, students will hone their skills in acting, singing, and movement as they explore the powerful themes of love, community, and resilience.
They will prepare for a compelling, fully staged production to wrap up an unforgettable summer!
Auditions: Friday, March 21, 2025 (5:00pm - 10:00pm)
Callbacks: Friday, March 28, 2025 (5:00pm - 10:00pm)
Show Dates: July 18 & 19, 2025 (7:30pm)

Designed for passionate singers, actors, and dancers, this program is the perfect opportunity for teens ages 14–20 to build their resumes, expand their skills, and work at a fast-paced, professional level. This audition-only program immerses participants in a short intensive rehearsal process with industry professionals, where they will refine their skills in acting, singing, and movement while preparing for a live performance.
CAST EXPECTATIONS:
All cast members must be off-book for all dialogue prior to the first rehearsal.
Harmonies will be taught, but solo vocal lines/songs must be fully prepared individually in advance.
Attendance is required for all rehearsals and performances.
This intensive program requires commitment, focus, and dedication.

At First Act Youth Company, we are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and supported. We believe that talent and passion come in many forms, and we encourage people of all backgrounds and identities to audition for our programs.
Auditions will be held on Friday, March 21st, with callbacks on Friday, March 28th.
REQUIREMENTS:
One (1) musical theatre song and one (1) pop/rock song – please prepare both songs in their entirety as well as 32-bar cuts for each.
No monologue is required for this audition, but we ask that you showcase a range of acting and character through your vocal performances.
There will be a group dance call, so please bring a change of clothes that you can move in.
No a cappella auditions or backing tracks will be permitted. Please bring your sheet music double-sided and in a binder for the accompanist.
Please bring a hard copy of your resume and headshot (or recent photo) stapled together for the panel.
Plan to arrive 10 minutes early to fill out your audition form and prepare.

The program fee is $450, payable upon acceptance.
Includes rehearsal materials, sets and costumes, live band, professional show photos, an archival recording of the production and a show-related industry-led workshop.

WORKSHOP OPPORTUNITY
All cast members will have the unique opportunity to participate in a workshop led by Nestor Lozano Junior, who played Angel Dumott Schunard in the Stratford Festival's production of Rent! This workshop will provide valuable insights into the world of the show, along with skill-building in character development and content research, helping students bring their roles to life with depth and authenticity.
Nestor Lozano Junior
Nestor Lozano Jr. (he/she/they) is beyond excited to be revisiting the world of RENT! Nestor is an actor based in Toronto. Most notably, Nestor has appeared on the Stratford Festival stages as Angel in RENT, Mrs. Whatsit in A Wrinkle in Time, Tink in Wendy and Peter Pan and recently appeared in Salesman in China.
RENT is one of Nestor’s favorite musicals because of its message about love, self-expression, and chosen family—things they believe are at the heart of theatre. Nestor is excited to work with young performers, diving into the music, movement, and stories that make RENT such a powerful show.
Previous theatre credits include: Salesman in China (National Arts Centre); The Wizard of Oz: The Panto (Drayton Entertainment); Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (Stage West Calgary); Peter Pan: The Panto (Neptune Theatre in Halifax); Shrek The Musical (Globe Theatre in Regina). Training: Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance from Sheridan College.
